FRx going bye-bye?

Most of us GP users use FRx as our financial reporting tool. Some of us love it and others wish it were faster and had a little bit better user interface. Well, changes are on the horizon.

If you had not heard, FRx is being ’sunsetted’ by Microsoft. Here are some quick facts. I also am going to try and upload a powerpoint that walks you through the roadmap for details.

What: FRx is currently a 16bit application with an Access database as its engine. Microsoft has re-written FRx in .NET, put it on a SQL Server database, and renamed it “Management Reporter”.

When: Dynamics GP 11.0 is expected to be released in March/April of 2010.

Who: Management Reporter will be included with all new shipments and sales of GP 11.0. Existing customers on maintenance will also receive a copy of it.

How: There will be a migration of your existing FRx reports to Management Reporter. This is great news as many of us have blood, sweat and tears in our current FRx reports.

Call us if you have any questions. We are here to help. Microsoft continues to imporve its solutions and we are all the better for it.
